ADDIE ELIZABETH (BETTY) FRENCH JORDAN
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Nathan Martin Jordan of Sangerville, her daughter Paula Brown and her husband Joel of Abbot, her beloved grandsons, Jason Martin Brown and his wife Jessica of Dover-Foxcroft, and Adam Whitney Brown of Abbot, sister-in-laws Ruth French of Dover-Foxcroft and Jeannette Harding of Lincoln, brother-in-law Bill Croce of Holicong, Pennsylvania, and several nieces. “Betty” worked in Dover-Foxcroft as a telephone operator and at the Hathaway Shirt Company. She loved the outdoors and all of God’s creatures. She spent many happy hours feeding and watching birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. She participated many years in the Audubon Society’s bird count. She also delighted in planting and nurturing flowers around her home. Betty was a homemaker and cook “extraordinaire” as well as a talented painter who gifted friends and family with her wonderful works of art. Above all else, Betty loved and cared for her husband and family. She nurtured them all with love, food, and laughter. Her delight in her grandsons was strong and unending. She passed on to them many lessons of love and life, and to the very end, was always there for hugs.
At Betty’s own request, there will be no funeral. There will be a committal service at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 10 a.m. Those who wish may make a contribution in her name to Hibbard Nursing Home Activity Fund, P.O. Box 150, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426 or to the Guilford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 267, Guilford, ME 04443. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.
