Allan V. Dickey
Allan was born in Waterville, Feb. 21, 1929, the son of George and Vida Marcia Dickey. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1947, and the University of Maine at Orono in 1951.
Allan was employed by H.P. Hood and Sons for 37 years, starting as a herd manager at Cherry Hill Farm in North Beverly, Mass., and working up to being plant manager, at several plants in Vermont, Portland and Newport. He retired in 1990.
Allan loved working the land, whether it was farming or gardening. He was very proud to be a Mason and was a member of the Dorchester Lodge of Vermont. Allan was one of the most generous people around and was always there to lend a helping hand. He loved watching basketball and football, whether it was grammar school to professional games. He loved being outdoors, traveling, beaches, cruising and especially having family around. His favorite trip was with Sue to the horse farms in Kentucky and Tennessee. He enjoyed music, dancing and spent many hours singing country songs in the car with Sue while traveling.
Allan was predeceased by his parents; and his first wife, Etta (Robinson).
Allan is survived by his wife, Sue; his son, Glenn, and wife Patricia; daughters Sylvia Sue and husband James Ford, and Marcia and husband Gary French; stepchildren Jennifer and husband C.J.
