AVIS M. (BURGESS) EDES
GUILFORD- Avis M. (Burgess) Edes, 79, died May 16, 2009, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born April 22, 1930, in Dover-Foxcroft, daughter of Elton and Eva (Crabtree) Burgess. Avis graduated from Guilford High School, class of 1948, and worked as a telephone operator for several years. She was past president of the Carbo Club, a member of the Guilford Center Baptist Church, and the Valley Grange.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin Edes of Guilford; children, Thomas Edes and his wife, Laurie of Glenburn, Karine "Kitty" Downs and her husband, Gary of E. Dover, William Edes and his wife, Doris of Eastbrook, and Robert Edes of Dover-Foxcroft; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anine Burgess, and a grandson, Jonathan Stanford.

Graveside memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday May 23, 2009, at the Guilford Center Cemetery, with Pastor Toby Smitherman officiating.
