BARBARA M. (DUBE) MCKENNEY
A 1961 graduate of Dexter High School, Barbara attended Dexter schools throughout her childhood. In 1962, she married Galen P. McKenney of Corinna and together they raised two children, Kathy and Rick. The family resided in Connecticut for a number of years before returning in 1971 to the McKenney farm in Corinna.
For 17 years, she worked at Bud's Shop & Save in Newport as Deli Manager. In 1994, she became office manager in the family business, McKenney Machine. Barbara will be remembered for her unconditional love and generosity to her family, her loyalty to friends, and her kindness and compassion for the people around her. In 1986, she and Galen began going to Moosehead Lake, a special place where family and friends have gathered for the last 20 years. "Camp" was one of her favorite places to be. She and Galen enjoyed several memorable trips with friends and family members in the last few years, visiting Germany, Alaska, Florida and Pennsylvania.
She leaves many family members who will miss her greatly: her husband of 44 years, Galen McKenney, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Mossey and grandson Justin, of Newport, her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Leslie McKenney, and grandchildren, Brad and Eliza Jane of Cumberland, her father, Lucien Dube, her brother and sister-in-law, Ted & Judy Dube, and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Laferriere, as well as her mother-in-law, Doris McKenney, all of Dexter. She will be remembered by several nieces and nephews, Annette, Rob, David, Paul, Ashley, Justin and Lucien. She was predeceased by her mother, Charlene Dube, in 2003. She believed in the strength of family and traditions, and taught us all what matters most.
Friends may call from 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 21st, at the Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.
