CARL J. "PAPA" OLSON, SR.
St. Albans: Carl J. “Papa” Olson Sr. 58 went home unexpectedly to be with his heavenly father and was met by his mom and dad April 3, 2005 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born in Washburn Feb. 15, 1947 the son of John and Inge (Nelson) Olson. Carl was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany as a Driver and Aid to the General. He married Darlene Melanson in Palmyra on Feb. 25, 1984. At the time of his death Carl was the purchasing agent for Sullivan and Merritt in Hermon. He wad been employed there since 1980. Carl loved being with his family and doing things together. He was an “extremely loving husband and father”. He enjoyed motorcycles and yard sales.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Darlene L. Olson of St. Albans, three sons, Carl J. “Chuck” Olson Jr. of Millinocket, Terry Skidgel of Plymouth, Chuck Keegan and his wife Polly of St. Albans, four daughters, Tammy Russell and her husband Chris of St. Albans, Cassandra Keegan of St. Albans, Michelle Hopkins of St. Albans, Tammy Olson of Bangor, two brothers Herbert Olson and his wife Cecile of Crouseville, Albert Olson and his wife Trudy of W. Hartford, Conn., one sister Anita Jones and her husband Bernard of Anchorage Alaska, a brother-in-law, Donald Libby of Bangor, seven grandchildren, Dustin, Brent, Derek, Hunter, Courtney, Kevin, Michael, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents a sister Emma Libby and a son-in-law to be Ken Joyce. He will be remembered by many special friends that he met through his work at Sullivan and Merritt over the years.

Graveside services will be conducted later in the spring at the Palmyra Village Cemetery at a date and time to be announced. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Pine Tree Camp for Handicapped Children and Adults. Donations may be sent to the central office at P.O. Box 518 Bath Maine 04530. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home 34 High St. Newport.
