PARKMAN, David M. Kain, Sr. 73, died September 25, 2002, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born January 31, 1929 in Gloucester, Mass son of John and Myrtle (Roberts) Kain. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS President Jackson and was a member of the Stott Flanders American Legion Post #165 in Sangerville. In 1976 he was Master of the Acacia Masonic Lodge in Gloucester, Mass. He worked for most of his life as a self-employed contractor. In 1983 he moved with his family to Maine and worked for several years as the Road Commissioner of Parkman. Even after retiring he continued to work in the construction business with James Bennett.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances "Tootie" (Gaffney) Kain of Parkman; three sons and their wives, David and Linda Kain Jr. of Abbot, Donald and Anita Kain of Parkman, and Ronald Kain of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Doris Roberts of Wenham, Mass.; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Virginia Kain of Gloucester, Mass and Wilbur and Betty Kain of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth, Donna, Melissa, April, Brian, Abbie, Karole Anne, Darrin, Salina, Libby, and Kolby; two great grandchildren, Whitney and Kyle; several nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Kain.

Memorial services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with the Dr. Richard Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the charity of your choice in his name.
