OBITUARIES

DORIS L. FOLSOM
NEWPORT & STETSON—Doris L. Folsom, 90, passed away April 17, 2002 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born May 28, 1911 at Newport, the daughter of Lee and Ida (Robinson) Lewis. Her father was a prominent farmer and businessman in Newport. She was married for over 50 years to the late Lincoln C. Folsom. For more than 30 years they owned and operated the Double L Farms. Doris taught music in the public school system and gave private piano lessons for 15 years in Newport and the surrounding towns. She was a member of the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport, and the the Nokomis Chapter # 42 Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, and loved animals, especially her birds. At the time of her death, she was still active with her music.

She will be truly missed by her cat, Jezzie. She was predeceased by her only son,Thomas J. Folsom in 1993; and sisters, Meredyth L. Smith and Nellie Lewis. She leaves 3 grandchildren, Thomas L. Folsom of Stetson, Darlene M. Clark of Pembroke, and Darren L. Folsom and his wife, Janet Chamberlin of Newport; a special daughter-in-law, Gloria J. Folsom Hitchings of Pembroke; 3 dear great grandsons, Jarrod Lincoln Clark and Lincoln Folsom Clark, both of Newport, and Jonathan H. Folsom of North Carolina; 4 special nieces, Sonia Cianchette of Newport, Carol Austin of Waterville, Merelyn Findler of Florida, and Patricia Mullis of Corinna; as well as many special friends.

Graveside services will be held 4 P.M. Wednesday, April 24th at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with the Rev. Marriott Churchill officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the People’s United Methodist Church, 131 Main Street; Newport, ME 04953. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.
