Douglas Alan Vigue Doug graduated from Dexter High School, Dexter, in 1966. Shortly after graduating, he served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Vietnam era as a Navy Reserve medic and then went to work for Dexter Shoe Company, where he retired after more than 30 years. Doug was a faithful Christian and member and trustee of New Hope Baptist Church of Dexter. He loved to help others and in recent years took great pride in overseeing the Dexter Food Pantry. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and boating with his best friend Pastor Will Walters; but most of all he loved spending time with his dog and "special" friend, Rio. Doug was the beloved husband of Donna J. Vigue for 29 years. He was a wonderful father to his three children, Stephanie (Vigue) Clark and husband James, of South China; Stacey (Vigue) Haskell and husband Matt, of Hampden; Eric Vigue of Winslow; step-children, Steven Pratt, Jr., of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and Mandi Pratt Chapman of Alexandria, Virginia. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, Aiden Clark, Emma Haskell, Gracyn Haskell; and step-grandchildren, Marissa and Noah Pratt, and Marie and Iris Chapman. Doug is survived by his brother and wife, Gregory and Boon Vigue of Jacksonville, Alabama and their three daughters, Debbie and Susan Vigue and Suporn Sawatpong. He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis, and by his parents. A celebration of Doug's life will occur at a graveside memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Pastor Will Walters officiating. Those who wish to remember Doug in a special way are encouraged to send donations, in lieu of flowers, in Doug's memory to New Hope Baptist Church Dexter Food Closet, 130 Spring Street, Dexter, ME 04930. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. For an online guest register, go to www.CrosbyNeal.com.
