OBITUARIES

DR. STEVEN F. CHAPMAN
DEXTER - Dr. Steven F. Chapman passed away Friday, May 13, 2011. He was born Dec. 11, 1957.

Steve grew up in Norridgewock and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1976. He starred on the varsity football, basketball and baseball teams all four years in high school. He went on to play collegiate baseball and football while at Case Western Reserve University. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1980 and Case Western's School of Dentistry in 1985 as a doctor of dental surgery.

Steve returned to his home state to practice dentistry, initially in Dexter and eventually opening a second practice in Skowhegan. Steve was a member of Dexter Fire Department and Dexter Kiwanis.

He met his wife, Debbie, in Dexter and they married in 1989. Steve and Debbie have two daughters, Jenna and Miriah. In addition to his dental practice, Steve was an entrepreneur and started numerous businesses, all of which were targeted at serving the community in which he lived or providing products to aid people with medical conditions.

Steve and his family were also avid skiers and spent considerable time at Sugarloaf Mountain during the winter months where Jenna skis with Sugarloaf Mountain junior professionals and Miriah snowboards with SCVA.

In addition to his immediate family, Steve is survived by his parents, William and Wilda Chapman of Mesa, Ariz.; and four brothers and their wives, Scott and Brenda of Standish, Stanley and Lisa of Hermon, Sherwood and Laurie-Anne of Gilbert, Ariz., and Sheldon of Cardiff, Calif. Steve enjoyed life and lived abundantly.

He will be remembered as a great husband, dad, dentist, son, brother, friend and an active and involved member of the community. While we are all saddened that we will no longer be able to enjoy being with Steve, he would not want us to spend time mourning his passing. We will honor his wishes and instead have a celebration of Steve's life with family and friends July 3 at his residence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's memory to a ski program for children at www.winterkids.org.
