CORINTH - Edwin W. Smith, 77, died October 19, 2009 at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 25, 1932 in Bradford, a son of Walter and Minnie (French) Smith. He was a self-employed truck driver for 50 years, traveling in the lower 48 states and Canada. Ed was a longtime member of the Charleston Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Rockwell) Smith of Corinth; 3 sons, Kenneth and wife Elaine, and Michael, all of Corinth, Richard and wife Karen of Ocala, FL; daughter, Wanda and husband Joel Greatorex of Corinth; a brother, Roger and wife Helen of Corinth; a sister, Madeline and husband Cecil Obar of Prospect, CT; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Ada Rockwell of Charleston; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed Smith, an amazing and humble man; one who impacted so many lives in so many incredible ways. Live with no excuses. Love with no regrets. Laugh a lot. Leave this life with nothing left unsaid. Make this world a better place. Don't be afraid to cry, and when it's finally time to say goodbye, there's nothing to prove, nothing to lose, nothing to hide. Your love will fill our hearts forever. Your wisdom will guide us, till we meet again, where the sun never sets.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 21st at the Charleston Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Friends may call from 1 P.M. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Soul's Harbor, P. O. Box 155, Charleston, ME 04422.
