EILEEN M. RICHARD
DEXTER – Eileen M. Richard, 80, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren on Saturday June 14, 2008 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born March 28, 1928 at Augusta a daughter of Charles and Nellie (Shute) Landerkin. She graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1945, and attended Kennebec School of Commerce. On November 7, 1946, Eileen married James A. Richard in Greenville. Eileen and Jim were married for 56 years prior to his death in August 2003. They had lived in Greenville, Brownville Junction, Oakland, Bingham and Dexter, where Eileen worked in Reny’s Department Store and the Ben Franklin Store. She was a communicant of St. Annes Church in Dexter. Eileen was an exceptional seamstrees and enjoyed quilting with her friends in Quiet Quilters of Ripley. She also enjoyed her camp at Pleasant Pond in Caratunk, which she and Jim built in 1957. She spent many wonderful summers watching children, birds, and the water.

She is survived by her son Charles J. Richard and wife Patricia of Fort Kent, daughter Juliana J. Richard of Dexter, son Michael F. Richard and wife Debra of Old Orchard Beach, and son John L. Richard of Gorham; grandchildren, Melanie, Ryan and wife Tricia, Tracy, Aaron and wife Amber, Danielle and husband Eric Honan, and Heather; great grandchildren McKenzie, Eli, Miranda, Michael, William, Casey, and Jada. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Stritch and husband Bertrum of Hoosick Falls, New York, and Charlene Worden and husband William of Round Pond.

Friends may call from 6-7 PM Wednesday, June 18th, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter. A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday at St. Annes Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Father James Robichaud officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Gardiner.
