Estella B. Dyer
Estella was born in Milo, ME on March 29, 1927 and was one of six children of the late Earl W. and Leanora (Kirkland) Byther. She was raised in Milo and received a Bachelorís in Geology from Colby College in Maine where she was honored as the Valedictorian of her class. She came to Bristol and received a Masterís Degree from Central Connecticut Teacherís College in New Britain. She taught second grade at South Side School in Bristol for 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of Bristol Teachers Retirees, the Bristol Senior Center, and was a longtime volunteer at UCONN Health Center. Stella was an avid gardener and she enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. She was a 50 year member of Prospect United Methodist Church, Bristol.
Estella leaves three sons and daughters in law, Dan Dyer and Debbie Garay of Howey in the Hills, FL, Lorin and Celeste Dyer of Waterbury, and Jeffrey M. and Ann Dyer of Southington; two daughters and a son in law, Paula and David Kelly of Bristol, and Martha Dyer of Raleigh-Durham, NC; a sister, Mary Thorpe of Worcester, MA; five grandchildren, Geremy and Scott Wallace, Christina, Jeffrey R., and Nicole Dyer; two great grandchildren, Christian and Mia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Earl, Paul, Kirkland, and Weston Byther.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (March 6, 2013) at 11:30 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in West Cemetery, Bristol.
