ESTELLE P. MASON
CORINNA – Estelle P. Mason, 77, died November 12, 2002 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born October 1, 1925 at Ripley, the daughter of Edward and Louise (McCarthy) Page. She graduated from Hartland Academy and Farmington State College. She touched the lives of many children as she taught for 33 years in the towns of Corinna, St. Albans, Cambridge, Ripley and Dexter. She also served as principal of Ripley Elementary School while teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grades, until the school consolidated with Dexter. Estelle then taught 6th grade at Dexter Middle School until her retirement. After her retirement she became an avid bird watcher who also enjoyed growing plants and flowers in her house. She was a member of the Dexter Literary Club and The Golden Age Club. She was predeceased by her husband Dewane Mason in 1981.
She is survived by a special friend George Hazlett of Ocean Isle, NC; a son Everett Mason and his wife of Dover-Foxcroft, a daughter Barbara and her husband William Prescott of Newport; grandchildren, Laura Mason of Dexter, Greg Mason of Plymouth, NH, Gary Mason of Guildford, Wayne Prescott of Dexter and Karen Prescott of Newport; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Friday. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
