FREDERICK A. BREWER
DETROIT AND NEWPORT, Frederick A. Brewer, 80, died December 15, 2002 at a Pittsfield Hospital. He was born November 19, 1922, in Wilton, New Hampshire, son of George and Blanche (Beals) Brewer. He was a Sergeant in the U.S.Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart. He had been employed at Walpole Woodworkers for 45 years until his retirement in 1987. Fred was a member of the Peoples Methodist Church in Newport and of the Night Drifters Snowmobile Club.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gretchen (Lovley) Brewer of Newport; a son Wayne Brewer of Newport; a daughter, Myrna Davis of Bangor; a step-sister, Jerri Varney of Newport; 4 grandchildren, De-De and Wayne Brewer, and Gyasi and Shanika Davis; 3 great grandchildren, Craig, Kaitlin and Lauren.

Friends may call Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street in Newport. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at the Peoples United Methodist Church in Newport with the Rev. George Darling officiating. Spring burial will be in the Palmyra Village Cemetery.
