Harold Smith Sebec Village - Harold “Hap” Smith, 84, passed away November 10, 2007, at a Bangor hospital, with his family by his side. He was born December 11, 1922, in Malden, MA.

Hap had lived in Sebec Village most of his life, where he was well known for his beautiful flowers which he lovingly cared for every summer. He was often seen out patrolling his oak ridge overlooking Sebec Lake. He was a man who loved to fish his secret holes in the mountains, as well as explore the great outdoors. Hap always had to have a project in progress, which he always took great pride in overseeing. He was a very generous man who supported many local causes as well as extending a helping hand to those in need. He rose from very humble beginnings, as he was on his own at age 14, and became a successful entrepreneur.

He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Jeanne, of Sebec Village; a son, Alan Smith and his wife Debbie of Sebec Village; 3 daughters, Holly Tasker of Bangor, Linda Mountford and her husband Scott, and their daughter Andrea, all of York, Cherie Smith of Titusville, FL; his grandchildren, Suzanne (Britton) McElvain and her husband David and their children, Catherine and D.J., all of Levant, Samantha (Smith) Greenlaw and her husband Jason and their children Lucas and Emily, all of Sebec Village, Garrett Smith and his wife Erin and their daughter, Ella, all of Dover-Foxcroft; his mother-in-law, Leona Crawford of Dover-Foxcroft; and many special friends. He was predeceased by his beautiful daughter Angela Smith, and his precious granddaughter, Jennifer Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Sebec Village Community Christian Church in Sebec Village, with Pastor Bea Violette officiating. After the service, friends and family are invited to share fellowship and stories at the Sebec Reading Room in Sebec Village.
