PITTSFIELD – Helen May (Freeman) Braley, passed away November 20, 2003 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. She was the daughter of Everett and Florence (Gillis) Freeman and was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from Bucksport High School, and attended the Bangor [ME] School of Commerce (Husson College). Helen worked as a secretary in the purchasing department at St. Regis Paper Company for fourteen years. She was also a legal secretary to the late Judges, William F. Jude, and his son Judson A. Jude of Newport. She was also a secretary for the former J. R. Cianchette and Sons of Pittsfield. She was a past member of the Rebekah’s, and also the Floral Grange in Bucksport. Helen was a partner in the establishment of the former Grand View Golf Course in Palmyra. She was a Girl Scout Leader and had been the treasurer for the Pittsfield Elks Auxiliary. She was a wonderful mother and a wonderful person, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Harlan B. Braley.

She is survived by her son, Frank E. Randall of Newport, daughter Francine F. Mayhew of Pittsfield; and three grand-daughters, Katie Randall of Bangor, Natalia and Margo Mayhew of Pittsfield.

There will be no visitation. A graveside committal service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 26th, at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital Building Fund, 99 Grove Hill, Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.
