JAMES L. STEWART
James L. Stewart SANGERVILLE, James L. Stewart, 74, died September 21, 2006 at his home in Sangerville. He was born July 5, 1932 in Guilford, a son of Joseph and Doris (Rogers) Stewart. He worked for Guilford Industries starting at the age of 16, and worked at many of the textile mills throughout New England, including Ski-land Textile mill in Clinton, ME, where he was a superintendent, Faulkner Textile in N. Billerica, MA, and Mastex Textile in Holyoke, MA, where he became a master designer. After retiring from the textile mills he served as a consultant for several years. Also after retirement James was involved full time with the Community Support Program in Holyoke, MA, working with Schizophrenic addicts. For many years he was involved with Boy Scout Troop 117 in Guilford, and became an Eagle Scout, attending the “Gathering of Eagles” in Eddington, in 2001. He was honored with recognition in the Who’s Who in American Business, and was a member of Abner Wade Masonic Lodge in Sangerville and the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Dow) Stewart of Sangerville; two sons, Richard H. Stewart of MA, and Lawrence A. and Kristina Stewart of Wayne; a daughter, Kathleen Stewart Phelps of Winslow; six stepchildren, Macy and Nancy Gardner, Martin and Rhonda Taylor, Andrew and Tina Taylor; Rod S. Willey and Heather, Kelly D. Taylor, and Jacqueline and Bennett Watt; six grandchildren, Jessica Phelps, Tyler and Neil Stewart, Matthew and Chase Stewart, Michael Rankin; several step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren, Mandy, Kieara and Gage Garland; one brother, Alan F. Stewart and his wife Robin of Washington; several nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn (Harrington) Stewart; a son, Frederick H. Stewart; and a daughter, Robin Rankin.

Friends may call Sunday, September 24th, 2006 from 6 to 8 pm at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 pm.
