Janice Ardell McAllister
ABBOT- Janice Ardell McAllister, 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Hartland, November 15, 1930, a daughter of L. Clancy and Lela (Stedman) Burton.

She spent her life caring for her family and her adopted town of Abbot. Janice was active with local boards and town government, serving 10 years on the SAD #4 School Board, 16 years as tax collector, then 18 years as Selectperson of the town of Abbot. She also served on MMA committees, the Northern Forest Lands Council during the McKernan administration, and the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine.

She was predeceased by her parents, formerly of St. Albans, and her loving husband, Erwin E. "Mac" McAllister.

She is survived by her 5 sons, Christopher, Michael, and Steven Harrington, and Alvin and Bradley McAllister; grandchildren, Janice Haning, Michael Harrington, Jr., Abraham Harrington, Nichole, Susan and Erwin McAllister; great grandchild, Reagan Harrington; and a special aunt, Glenna Bartlett and her children.

At her request there will be no services. Donations in her memory may be made to the Donald Gourley Memorial Playground Fund, P.O. Box 120, Abbot, ME 04406.
