JASPER A. FARRINGTON, SR.
He became a certified boiler technician while working for Harris Oil Company, and later for King’s Oil Company after the family moved to Brewer. He had been a member of the Methodist Churches in Lincoln, South Portland and Brewer. After retiring, he moved from Brewer to Pittsfield and attended the Canaan Union Church.
Jasper was a member of the American Legion for 40 years: a past commander of the Brewer American Legion, and later, the Pittsfield American Legion. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jasper was also a past commander of the Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by 3 sons, Fay and wife Caroline of Leesburg, FL, Jasper “Arnie” Farrington, Jr. and wife Rita of Pittsfield, Michael and wife Anne of Melbourne, FL; 2 daughters, Arlene Turner of South Portland, and Theresa Elkins of Augusta; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Hortense (Sibley) Farrington on May 21, 2005; a sister Barbara Perry and sister-in-law Helen (Smith) Farrington, both formerly of Lincoln.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, May 30th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday with Pastor Diana Perkins officiating.
A graveside committal service will be held at noon Thursday at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery (new cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road), Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canaan Union Church, P.O. Box 1820, Waterville, ME 04901. Condolences may be expressed at www.CrosbyNeal.com
