OBITUARIES

JOHN DAVIS BEAL
ST. ALBANS – John Davis Beal, 73, died November 13, 2011 at a Pittsfield nursing home. He was born August 1, 1938 in Melrose, Mass., a son of Arthur and Helen (Ilsley) Beal. He graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1956, and served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1956 to 1960.

He was a self employed piano rebuilder and tuner for 50 years, 28 of which were in Maine. John was an avid golfer, playing, reading about it, and watching others play the game. He loved Jazz and was an accomplished jazz pianist. He enjoyed landscaping and spent many hours maintaining his property.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol (Pavelka) Beal of St. Albans; a brother Peter Beal of Garwood, NJ; as well as nieces and nephews.

At his request, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Pittsfield Rehab and Nursing, 167 Leighton Street, Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may sign an online guest register at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
