OBITUARIES

JOHN E. IRVIN
DEXTER, John E. Irvin, 93, died January 1, 2005, at a Dexter health care facility. He was born August 20, 1911, in Bangor, son of Herbert and Catherine (Baker) Irvin. John was one of the original founders and Past President of the Dexter Fish and Game Association. He enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and was an avid bird watcher and sportsman. He worked for Bucknam and Mountain Hardware Store for many years and later for Fay Scott Landis until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, in 1998, Addie (Fanjoy) Irvin.

He is survived by a son and his companion, Robert J. Irvin and Donna Bell, and a special grandson, Kenneth A. Irvin all of Dexter; granddaughter, Amy Irvin Witham and great grandson, Gregory Pinnette all of Vermont; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 4, 2005 from 2 to 4 PM, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, in Dexter. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Dexter Historical Society, P.O. Box 481, Dexter, ME 04930 or to the Abbott Memorial Library, Church St., Dexter, ME 04930.

Graveside committal services for John will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter, with Pastor Lois Field officiating. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
