LAURINE "RENEE" HEBERT
She began her teaching career as a high school graduate in a one-room schoolhouse in Garland. By taking extension courses, she graduated with honors from the University of Southern Maine. She also taught in Dexter at Wassookeag Summer School, then in Pownal and finally in Yarmouth, where she taught fifth grade for 26 years.
She was a member of Woman's Literary Club and the Sunshine Club, Dexter. In Yarmouth, Laurine was a member of Fortnightly Club, Home and Garden Club, VIS, Yarmouth Public Health and Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of First Parish Congregational Church, Yarmouth.
Laurine and Hector enjoyed their cottage in Dexter, playing tennis - she played until age 80, listening to jazz and traveling. She loved bridge and canoeing on Lake Wassookeag.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Doherty of Scarborough; two grandsons, John and his wife, Jane, of Cape Elizabeth, and Jay and his wife, Kate, of South Berwick; and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Owen, Anna, Egan and Abby, who will greatly miss "G.G." She was predeceased by her parents, John and Louise Willey; her husband of 62 years, Hector Hebert; and her sister, Ruth Rosebush.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main St., Yarmouth, with a reception in the church hall after. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Elmwood Cemetery, Route 15, Guilford.
