MARION KENNY
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Marion Kenny, 90, passed away Aug. 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was born March 23, 1912, in Palmyra, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Murphy) Trundy. After the death of her parents she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. William Hesketh and family in South Dover, where she attended the nearby one-room school on the Norton Hill Road. During the late 1940s and early 1950s, she worked as a waitress in various restaurants in Bangor, and then as a waitress in hotel dining rooms in Connecticut and York Beach, before retiring in 1979. She then returned to Dover-Foxcroft, where she volunteered many hours for the Meals for Me program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was presented a number of "Certificates of Appreciation" for her many hours of service. She was always happiest cooking for family gatherings and friends, and having visits by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She baked Christmas cookies for gifts, sewed quilts and made latch-hook rugs. She not only enjoyed having a cat of her own, but often befriended other cats of the neighborhood by providing food for them each time they came to visit.

She is survived by two sons, Louis Stevens of Dover-Foxcroft and Robert Stevens Sr. and his wife, Dolly of Sanford. She was predeceased by another son, Myles Cray of Corinna, with whose wife, Patricia she had made her home for a time in 1999-2000. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Richard Stevens and his wife, Gay of Woodland Hills, Calif., Mark Stevens and his wife, Sue of Dover-Foxcroft, Robert Stevens Jr. and his wife, Paula of Dover-Foxcroft, Cheryl Stevens Melcher and her husband, Steve of Glenburn, Myles James Cray of Massachusetts, Susan Cray Kasprzak and her husband, Adam of Newport, John Cray and his wife, Mary Ellen of St. Albans, Trisha Cray of Old Town, Kathy Cray of Oregon, Chris Cray of Portland and David Cray of Illinois. She was predeceased by another grandchild, Cathy Stevens; and a great-grandchild, Brittany Stevens. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, who were part of seven five-generation family groups. They are son, Robert Stevens Sr., grandson, Mark Stevens, great-grandson, Jarrod Stevens and great-great-grandson, Dylan Stevens; son, Robert Stevens Sr., grandson, Richard Stevens, great-granddaughter, Jessica and great-great-granddaughters, Alexis, Brianna and Catherine, great-granddaughter, Cathy and great-great-granddaughter, Ashlyn; and son, Robert Stevens Sr., grandson, Robert Stevens Jr., great-grandson, Jon Stevens, great-great-grandson, Rylie, and great-great-granddaughter, Robin and great-great-granddaughter, Julia.

Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, with her grandson, Pastor Mark Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery at Dover South Mills. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Activity Fund at Hibbard Nursing Home, P.O. Box 159, Dover-Foxcroft 04426.
