ABBOT, Marjorie Ruth Barnes, 87, of Bates Road, Abbot, died August 8, 2002 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home, following a long illness. She was born in New York City, May 8, 1915, daughter of William and Ethel (Hill) Hanson. She lived many years in Harrington Park, NJ and attended school there. She was a graduate of Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. She was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Navy Nurse Corps. She worked as a nurse in New Jersey and Maine and served for a number of terms as Administrator of Mayo Memorial Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft.

She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie H. Barnes of Shrewsbury, Mass.

A Memorial will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 24, 2002, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sangerville with Rev. James Robichaud officiating. Burial will be in the Sangerville Village Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to Mayo Regional Hospital, 75 W. Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. .Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.
