NEWPORT Martha L. Maynard, 93, died February 10, 2002 at a Pittsfield healthcare facility. She was born February 26, 1908 at Waterville the daughter of Frank and Eliza (Grindle) Perkins. She graduated from the Waterville Public Schools and Thomas Business College, moving to Newport in 1926. She was employed by the Weymouth Wool Company, and later, Banton, Inc., where she worked for 42 years until her retirement. In 1935, Martha married Seth Lander, who died in 1937. In 1946, she married Philip Maynard, who predeceased her in 1970. Martha was a member of the High Street Congregational Church. She was a Past Matron and Life Member of Nokomis Chapter #42, Order of The Eastern Star, and belonged to the Lakeside Extension. She was a former member of the Sebasticook Garden Club and the Newport Business and Professional Women's Club.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Kay Gilbert of Bath; a step-son, W. Philip Maynard of Montgomery, Alabama; several step-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Isabelle McKenzie Heald of Newport.

Funeral services will be held 7 P.M. Wednesday, February 13th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 P.M. until the time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the High Street Church, 18 High Street, Newport, ME 04953. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
