MARTHA O. JACOBSEN
PALMYRA—Martha O. Jacobsen, 71, died April 9, 2009 at her residence after battling an illness. She was born July 27, 1937 in Hamlin, a daughter of Patrick and Aurore (Paradis) Ouellette. She was raised and attended school in Van Buren.

On May 17, 1958, she married Jack Jacobsen in Hartford, CT. In her spare time she donated countless hours to St. Agnes Parish in Pittsfield and to the Town of Palmyra as a ballot clerk. She enjoyed gardening, was an expert fly tier, known for her homemade butter, avid Boston Red Sox fan, hunter and birdwatcher, enjoyed NASCAR, and the quiet tranquility of nature and being at home.

Martha is survived by her 4 children, Karen and husband Wayne Smith of Old Lyme, CT, Gail and husband Brian Rausch of Santa Barbara, CA, Eric and Kirk Jacobsen, both of Palmyra; brothers and sisters, Delcia and husband Warren Butcha of East Hartford, CT, Robertine and husband Rodney Carmichael of Rochester, NH, Marie Swanzey of Milo, Verna Parent of Tolland, CT, Arlene and husband Roger Bowers of Saco, Rachel and husband Donald LaPerle of Rochester, NH, Daniel and wife Pat Ouellette of Saco, and John Ouellette of East Hartford, CT; several beloved grandchildren. She also leaves behind her best friend Debbie Niles. She was predeceased by her husband in July 1991.

Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Newport Cultural Center, 23 Water Street, Newport, ME 04953.
