CANAAN—Maxine Althea Lyons Janson went home to be with her Lord and Savior December 21, 2003 at EMMC in Bangor. She was born January 30, 1922 at Fairfield, the daughter of Perlie and Myrtle (Hawes) Corliss. She graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1942. She was a very caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by them all. She was always doing for others before doing for herself. She lived in Canaan, ME in the summer and at Settlers Rest RV Park in Zephyrhills, FL, in the winter, where she was very active in park activities. She joined Evening Star Chapter #189, OES, in Hartland on February 29, 1975. She served as an officer each year and was a Past Matron. She was a Grand Representative to New Brunswick, Canada and loved attending Grand Chapter of Maine every spring. She was a member of Smokey’s Angels Snowmobile Club and served on the advisory board of Pittsfield Assembly #15 International Order of Rainbow for Girls and received the Grand Cross of Color for her dedication to that order. She volunteered for RSVP for a number of years in Skowhegan and attended the Full Gospel Church in Hartland. She married Walter Gerald Lyons on August 19, 1943; and he passed away February 26, 1980. She married Herman Janson on April 9, 1988; and he passed away on September 10, 2000. She was also predeceased by a brother, Walter Corliss and a sister, Rosellen Hall.

She is survived by two daughters and a son, Irene (Dolly) Robbins and husband Neal Robbins of Hartland, David (Tinker) Lyons and his wife Arlene of Pittsfield, and Bonnie Tweedie of Palmyra; two stepsons, Philip Janson of Ridgewood, NJ and Robert Janson of Boca Raton, FL; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruby Lyons of Hartland and a brother, Robert Bunt and his wife Ruth of Bucksport; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 23rd, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with an OES ceremony at 7:00 P.M. at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 24th, with the Rev. Ronald Parker officiating. Spring burial will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maxine’s memory to Estarl (Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership) c/o Bonnie Tweedie, P. O. Box 249, Palmyra, ME 04965.
