OBITUARIES

PHILIP R. MATTEI, SR.
NEWPORT & CARRABASSETT VALLEY—Philip R. Mattei, Sr., CRNA, 53, died unexpectedly September 16, 2000 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. He was born March 22, 1947 at Worcester, MA the son of Rocco and Rosemary (Stafford) Mattei. He graduated from St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School, Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, and Mercy Hospital School of Anesthesia in Springfield, MA. He moved with his family to Maine in the fall of 1978 and worked at hospitals in Calais, Rumford, Millinocket, and for the past 10 years at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, which was his favorite. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his involvement with Labrador Retriever AKC hunt test programs throughout New England.

He is survived by his parents of Cherry Valley, MA; his wife of 32 years, Jane (Sullivan) Mattei of Newport and Carrabassett Valley; 2 sons, Philip Mattei, Jr. of Carrabassett Valley and Jonathan Mattei of Bangor; 2 daughters, Kristine Dingley of Charlton, MA and Maura Mattei of Old Town; 3 brothers, William Mattei of Rochdale, MA, Richard Mattei and Brian Mattei,both of Leicester, MA; a sister, Lisa Atwood of Norwich, VT; 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn-Jade Dingley, Nickalaus Dingley and Barret Cote.

Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Monday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport,where funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday, September 19th, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Sugarloaf Area Ministries, RR1, Box 2287, Kingfield, ME04947.Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
