OBITUARIES

ROBERT "BOB" BRUCE BROWN
MONSON, Robert "Bob" Bruce Brown, Sr., 81, passed away on November 23, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 2, 1925 in Guilford, Maine. Bob was a graduate of Monson Academy and earned a degree in Forestry from the University of Maine at Orono. He was proud of his service in the United States Army during World War II.

He married Joyce McEachern on December 19, 1945. Bob was employed by Moosehead Manufacturing Company for more than 30 years. His life revolved around his family and he was an avid outdoorsman and golfer. Active in local politics, Bob was the town treasurer, a selectman and held a position on the Monson planning board until his death.

He was a member of the Small Woodman's Association and a Registered Land Surveyor. He was a dedicated supporter of education as a long term trustee of Monson Academy. Later in life, he received great pride in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in school activities.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Brown; daughters and husbands, Glenda and Jake Smith of Dover-Foxcroft, Jolane and Rick Clawson of Monson, Bobbi Jean and Peter Ryder of Monson, and son and wife, Robert and Kym Brown of Dover-Foxcroft.

He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Dirk Smith, Dean and Laurie Smith, Jared and Amanda Clawson, Davan Clawson, Megan Ryder, Nicole Brown, Bryanne Clawson, Danika Brown, Kyra Brown and two great grandchildren, Hunter and Hyatt Smith. He will be missed by several cousins and many loving friends.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, Monday, November 27, 2006, at the Crosby & Neal Greenville Chapel, at the Masonic Building, 281 Pritham Ave. in Greenville. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, November 28th at the Abbot Evangelical Free Church in Abbot, with Rev. Ray Beless officiating, followed by burial in the Lake Road Cemetery in Monson.

A time of sharing and refreshments will be held at the church following the burial. The family requests no flowers due to allergies. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Monson Academy Trustees Scholarship Fund, c/o John Pullen, 560 N. Guilford Rd., Monson, ME 04464, or to the Prostate Cancer Research Institute, Attention Memorials, 5777 W. Century Blvd., Suite 800, Los Angeles, CA 90045, or to the American Lung Association, 128 Sewall Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.
