SHELDON W. FOSTER
He was a member of the last class to graduate from Sangerville High School in 1949. He was President of the SHS Alumni Association for many years. Following High School, he served for four years in the US Navy, and was a member of the Stott Flanders American Legion Post in Sangerville.
Sheldon worked for New England Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was President of the Jasper N. Keller Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers, serving Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, where he spent many hours working with Special Olympics and at Pine Tree Camp. He served as member of the SAD #4 School Board.
He had served as President of United Church of Christ in Sangerville and later was a member of Grace Bible Church, also in Sangerville.
Sheldon was very active in Masonry, including, Past Master of Abner Wade Masonic Lodge in Sangerville, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Fifth Masonic District; Past High Priest of Piscataquis Royal Arch Masons, member of Anah Temple Shrine and had been appointed assistant to the Potentate in 1997; member of St John's Commandery and the Knights Templar in Bangor; Maine District Deputies Assn.; Central Council #18 Royal and Select Masters; and was associated with both the Scottish and York Rites. He was also a Past Patron of the Susie Carr Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda (Smith) Foster of Sangerville; 3 sons, Steven Foster and his wife, Sharon of Dexter, Andrew Foster and his wife, Tammy of Dover-Foxcroft, and Nathan Foster and his wife, Nikki of SC; a brother, Maynard Foster and his wife, Anna of Ripley; a sister, Martha Ludwiczak of MA; son-in-law, David Ciemny of NY; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Norine Ciemny.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford, where Masonic services will be held Thursday evening at 7:30. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, 1 PM, Friday, with Pastor Daryl Witmer officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford.

COMMITTAL NOTICE- Graveside committal services for Sheldon W. Foster, 79, who died December 6, 2010, will be held 10 AM, June 4, 2011, at the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford, with military honors.
