He was predeceased by his first wife Annie, a son Roger, a daughter Hildreth; 3 brothers, Norman, Raymond and Donald; and a sister Avis. In addition to his wife, Pauline (Gould) Thompson of Exeter, he is survived by 3 sons, Ernest of Dixmont, Clyde of Exeter, and Sumner Jr. “Sonny” of Newport; 5 daughters, Marguerite Mallory of Hampton, Virginia, Vivian Stevens of Exeter, Barbara Bessette of Lowell, Vermont, Sandra Carpenter of Ocala, Florida, and Arlene Ryder of Exeter; 5 step-children, Eugene, Richard, James, Wayne and Joyce; a brother, Richard Thompson of Hermon; 2 sisters, Mary Bragg of Bangor, and Roberta Harding of Rancho Cordova, CA; 41 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM Friday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, where funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 22nd, with The Rev. Chris Faloon officiating. Spring committal services will be held at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna.
