DIXMONT, PLYMOUTH & DEDHAM, MASS. - Sybelle E. Palmer, 84, died January 12, 2002 at West Roxbury, Mass. She was born October 2, 1917 at Dixmont the daughter of Frank and Fannie Patten. She was a longtime resident of Dixmont, resided for a number of years in Newport, and was a summer resident of Plymouth for many years. She and her husband George Otis Palmer, operated the family farm in Dixmont. She also worked for Ray Smith at the original Log Cabin Diner in Newport for many years. She was a member of the Grange. Sybelle looked forward to returning to Plymouth to the family camp where she spent her summers visiting with her many Maine friends and family. She drove herself to Maine each summer from Massachusetts up until 2 years ago. In addition to her husband, Sybelle was recently predeceased by her son Larry, who died unexpectedly November 16, 2001, while hunting and staying on the family land. She was also predeceased by two other children who died in infancy, Beverly and Orman.

She is survived by her daughter in law, Gail Palmer of Dedham, Mass.; grandchildren, Jason Palmer of Dedham, Mass., Kimberly Palmer and Ingrid Williams, both of Norton, Mass.; and great grandchildren, Chandra Palmer, Colby Williams, and Tyler Williams; and a sister in law, Olive Palmer of Newport.

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, Mass. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at the family lot, Simpson Corner Cemetery, Dixmont, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Local arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.
