Things often change in this life
The very waters of the heart seem to still
As I plead to the Lord up in heaven
To simply alter his will.
Waves of remembrance come slowly
Bringing thoughts of what was before
Reminders of tenderness, washing gently
Resting here upon life's shore.
Trembling, I reach down to touch them
Cool and crisp, a feeling so pure
For a moment I forget all my sadness
Seemingly no longer mine to endure.
I wonder why they keep receding
Why can't waters of the heart linger on?
Deep in my soul, I have come to realize
Love may seem stilled, but is never gone.
