A. CLAYTON BROWN In 1974, he moved back to Maine and did carpenter work and farming. Clayton was a Selectman, Code Enforcement Officer and Building Code Officer for the town of Stetson. He was the president, and for 18 years, Trail Master, for the Cross Country Cruisers Snowmobile Club of Exeter. In 1994, he became a member of the Pine Tree Camp Snowmobile Hall of Fame. The Cross Country Cruisers Snowmobile Club dedicated some of the ITS 83 trail in Exeter to him in the summer of 2006. In 1979, he joined the Pacific Lodge #64 in Exeter, where he was Master for 3 terms and held various chairs every year thereafter. In addition to his mother Eleanor of Bangor, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria; 2 daughters, Tammy Buswell and husband Brian, Cheryl Brown; and a granddaughter, Carly Buswell, all of Stetson; 2 sisters, Jessie Walls and husband Edward of Bangor and Jennette Saulnier of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; 1 brother, Allen Brown and wife Elaine of Stetson; one aunt, Helen Killam of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; one uncle, Almon Brown and wife Agnes of Bangor; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special nephew, Derek Saulnier of Moncton, N.B., Canada. At his request, there will be no funeral or visitation. A graveside Masonic service and committal will be held 10 A.M. Thursday, November 30th, at the family lot, Clark’s Hill Cemetery, Stetson. In lieu of flowers, Clayton has requested donations may be made to Pine Tree Camp for Crippled Children, 114 Pine Tree Camp Road, Rome, ME 04963. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
