Adelma "Dell" (Laughton) Sevey Adelma had a teaching career of 45 years, which was interrupted by raising her three sons and being a homemaker. She finished teaching in the Dexter schools. She was town clerk for Ripley for many years and held the cane for being the oldest lady in Ripley. She was a member of the Ripley Grange #462. She is survived by 3 sons, all over 80 years old, Ernest of Ripley, Richard and his wife, Barbara of Florida, and Howard Sr. and his wife, Irene of Hampden; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Adelma was from a family of nine siblings, eight of whom predeceased her, Rena Eaton, John Laughton, James Laughton, Flora Britten, Frank Laughton, Ed Laughton, Susan Jewett, and Marion Menditto; and she has a surviving brother, Andrew Laughton. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Sevey in 1997. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street in Dexter, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley. A remembrance gathering will be held after the burial for family and friends at the Ripley United Methodist Church.
