ALFRED E. "HOPPY" MELVIN
DEXTER, Alfred E. “Hoppy” Melvin, 62, died February 3, 2003, at his home in Dexter. He was born September 1, 1940, son of Richard and Estella (Jackson) Melvin. He attended local schools and graduated from Dexter High School class of 1959. He worked for many years at Dexter Shoe company in Dexter until his retirement in 2001. He was an avid camper, enjoyed sports and was an ASA Empire for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marie (Godreau) Melvin of Dexter; 2 sons, Mark and his wife, Licia Melvin and Rick Melvin all of Dexter; a daughter Tammy (Melvin) Tibbetts and Tod Tibbetts of Dexter; 2 sisters, Charlotte and her husband Melvin Crocker of Florida and Donna Melvin and Roger Boutilier of Dexter; grandchildren, Heather (Tibbetts) Pichette, Abbie and Macie Melvin; great grandchildren, Darcie and Owen Pichette; nieces and nephews; and his favorite dog, Shammy Girl.

Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with Fr. Raymond Morency officiating.
