OBITUARIES

ALICE E. BEAN
Alice E. Bean PARKMAN, Alice E. Bean, 84, beloved mother, passed away quietly at her home May 14, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 14, 1921, in Parkman, the daughter of Earl and Emma (Blake) Stewart. She attended schools in Parkman, before marrying Elmer E. (Bud) Bean on June 24, 1941 and devoting her life to him and the raising of their three children. She also was employed for a time at the NorWok shoe factory in Skowhegan and later at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna and Guilford Industries in Guilford, retiring at age 65 to return to the work she loved best, being a homemaker. She loved to garden and made excellent use of the produce by canning and making pickles and relishes that she lovingly shared with all her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; and her only son, Elmer (Buddy) Jr.; a brother, Merle Stewart; and four sisters, Thalma Dickinson, Ellen Knight, Alda Cassidy, and Margaret Lavender. Alice is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Leeman and her husband Jack of Abbot, and Judith Bean of Farmington; three sisters, Mary Edna Grant of Sangerville, Theda Ward of Texas, and Wilda Labree of Parkman; six grandchildren, Tammy Leeman, Susan Allen and husband Greg, Wesley Gray, Todd Holbrook, Kristina Morse and husband Ray, and special granddaughter Loretta Norsworthy, whom she raised, and husband Ron; seven great-grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, May 18, 2006, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak Street in Guilford, with committal services following at 3:30 PM, at the Cambridge Memorial Garden Cemetery in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Alice’s name to the Community Health and Counseling Services, Hospice Program, 14 Summer St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426; or to American Cancer Society, One Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
