ARTHUR O. LEONARD
ABBOT & CARMEL—Arthur O. Leonard, 83, died April 22, 2004 at a Waterville hospital. He was born April 6, 1921 at Rockwood a son of Arthur F. and Rita (Claire) Leonard. Arthur moved to Carmel with his family as a young man and attended school there. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, US Army, Navy and Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Arthur was also the oldest member of the Oakland American Legion. He enjoyed fishing from his home on Piper Pond; and with his brothers and friend, Charlie, on Brassua Lake.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna and husband Phil Jellerson of Lurry, VA, 2 brothers, Walter Leonard of Sidney and Norbert Leonard of Fairfield Center; a sister, Claire Leonard of Oakland; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Roberta and brother Richard.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 P.M. Sunday, April 25th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday with Pastor George Finnemore officiating. Burial and committal services will follow at 1 P.M. at the Fr. LeClair Chapel, Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, (Original Cemetery) Augusta.
