BRUCE R. GOULD
PLYMOUTH - Bruce R. Gould, 68, died April 19, 2001 at his Condon Road residence. He was born March 5, 1933 at Dixmont the son of Raymond and Nellie (Benson) Gould. He graduated from Lee Academy, Class of 1951 and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed for many years at H. P. Hood Company in Newport And currently was a self-employed fur buyer and trapper. Bruce was an avid sportsman. In addition to trapping he loved to hunt and fish and was able to realize a long held wish To go to Alaska. He was a member of the National Trapper's Association, the Maine Trapper's Association, the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine, the National Rifle Association, and the American Legion. He had been named Maine Trapper of the Year and held a number of awards and certificates for his proficiency and willingness to instruct others in his skills.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Pamela and husband Thomas Meehan of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Patsy and husband Howard Manson of Corinna, and Megan Gould of Corinna; a step-daughter, Wendy Mitchell of Pittsfield; 5 brothers, Richard of Albion, Roger of Winterport, Bryce of Dixmont, Kenneth of Etna, and Keith of Hampden; 6 sisters, Marion Elwell of Vassalboro, Adria Hughes of Hampden, Gladys Staples of East Holden, Selda Maxsimic and Carla LaRoache, both of Orrington and Charleen Hand of Bangor; 7 grandchildren, Travis, Timothy and Melanie Meehan, Allison and Hillary Manson, Lindsey and Joshua Mitchell. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorita (Stilwell) Gould, and a step-son Larry Mitchell. He will also be remembered by Regina Jordan, and many other special friends.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 A. M. Monday, April 23rd, with the Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth, later in the spring.
