CALVIN 'SONNY' A. HERBEST JR.
ORNEVILLE - Sonny Herbest, 60, husband of Virginia "Ginger" (Harmon) Herbest, died June 26, 2002, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 2, 1942, in Atkinson, the son of Calvin A. and Myla (Lyford) Herbest. Calvin was a member of Piscataquis Lodge No. 44 AF & AM and Anah Temple Shrine. He was an outdoor enthusiast, and especially enjoyed hunting, camping and 4-wheeling.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger of Orneville; four sons, Arthur G. Herbest and his wife, Julie of Brownville Junction, Jeff F. Herbest and his wife, Kelly of Dover-Foxcroft, Brian C. Herbest and his friend, Donna of Milo, David A. Ogden and his wife, Judy of Brownville Junction; two daughters, Melissa A. Herbest and her friend, Sonny of Sebec, Ann Marie Ogden and her friend, Steve of Brooksfield, Mass.; a brother, Ralph E. Herbest of Milo; two sisters, Stella Royal of Brownville and Albina Emery of Orneville; two brothers-in-law, Billy Harmon and his wife, Marie of Orneville and Freddy Harmon and his wife, Kathy of Carmel; a sister-in-law, Donna Holland and her husband, Mike of Trenton; 14 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Robin Hobbs and her husband, Mark. He will be sadly missed by his dog, Frosty.

Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with Masonic services said at 4 p.m., and a celebration of Calvin's life immediately following, with the Rev. David McLeish officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Shrine Burn Institute, 11 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
