CARL A. HOPKINS
CORINNA – Carl A. Hopkins, 83, died January 2, 2001 at a Pittsfield healthcare facility. He was born March 21, 1917 at Corinna the son of George and Gladys (Shepherd) Hopkins. He was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1935, and was self-employed as a dairy farmer in Corinna for many years. During the time that Carl owned and operated the dairy farm he also had a milk route throughout the Corinna area. Carl was Past Noble Grand of Stone Ezel Lodge IOOF of Corinna , and was a Past Master of the Grange, both in Corinna and Dexter. He was also Past Master and Past District Deputy of the East Somerset Pomona Grange. He served for 20 years as a custodian for SAD #48, and was also a member of Corinna Senior Citizens and the Corinna United Methodist Church. Carl also served on the church Board of Trustees for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice (Harris) Hopkins of Corinna and Palmyra; 5 daughters, Ruth Hopkins of Winthrop, Mass., Mrs. Willis (Beverly) Moody of Finlay, OH, Mrs. Thomas (Carlene) Muller of Poland Springs, Mary Anne Knowles of Palmyra, and Catherine Stephenson of Lyman; a sister, Eleanor Hopkins of Corinna; 8 grandchildren, Heather Dennington and her husband Jeff, Carolyn Donaldson and her husband John, Catherine Knowles and her husband Rick, Alexander Muller, Margaret Muller, Ryan Moody, Hilary and Jessica Stephenson; 3 great grandchildren, Steven and Elizabeth Dennington, and Allie Donaldson; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Friday, January 5th, at the Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dianne Danielson officiating. Spring burial will be in Corinna Village Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Corinna United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral chapel.
