OBITUARIES

CAROL M. GAGNON
SANFORD and ATKINSON Carol M. (Cote) Gagnon died early Monday morning, July 11, 2005, at Hibbard's Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. She lost a six year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (P.S.P.), a rare, degenerative brain disease. She was born Sept. 26, 1943, the daughter of Jean Louis Cote (who died on April 5, 1994) and Helen M. (O'Brien) Cote who resides in Sanford. Carol worked as a seamstress for many years at Aletta, John Roberts and Nike. She also worked in retail for several years at J.C. Penney. She enjoyed reading, dancing, crocheting and researching her family's genealogy. She loved to cook especially for family gatherings which she dearly loved.

Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Donald A. Gagnon of Atkinson. He cherished her from the moment they met and she will forever remain in his heart. Also survived by a daughter, Donna M. (Gagnon) Jache and her husband, Don, of Atkinson; a son, TSgt. Brian D. Gagnon and his wife, Janice (Fecteau) Gagnon of Golds-boro, N.C.; a son, Shawn M. Gagnon of Buxton; and a niece, whom she thought of as a daughter, Maria (Cote) Mee and her husband, Bob, of Shapleigh. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren that always brought her such joy, Ian R. Gagnon and Skylar Gagnon, both of Golds-boro, N.C., Shaylyn N. Gagnon of Buxton and Chris Jache of Manchester, N.H. She is also survived by three brothers, York County Sheriff Philip G. Cote and his wife, Marilyn, of Springvale, John P. "Jack" Cote and his wife, Betty, of Jackman, Michael J. Cote and his wife, Diane, of Shapleigh; and by several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff and nurses of the Hibbard Home who provided the most excellent care of Carol for the past 15 months.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at the Notre Dame Church in Springvale with a graveside service to follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Donations may be made to the P.S.P. Society Research Center, Exucite Plaza III, 11350 McCormack Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.
