CHARLES A. HEWETT
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Charles A. Hewett, 79, husband of Charlene (Woodard) Hewett, died July 22, 2002, at a local nursing home. He was born June 26, 1923, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Charles Sr. and Mary (Meade) Hewett. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1942, and attended the National Youth Association School of Mechanics in northern Maine. He was employed at various businesses as a mechanic and parts man, and took an early retirement from Darling's Auto Parts due to health reasons. Charlie enjoyed his family and his church, the Sebec Corner Baptist Church, where he had been a member since 1977. He was treasurer of the church for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, helping his wife in her quilt-making, and was available to help his friends and family with any mechanical repairs.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene of Dover-Foxcroft; three sons, Victor and his wife, Patricia of Herndon, Va., Russell and his wife, Vandy of Sebec, Roger and his wife, Joan of Plainfield, N.H.; a sister, Shirley Booker of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Roland and his wife, Linda of Torrance, Calif.; four grandsons; four granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren. He leaves many special friends and loving relatives.

Friends are invited to call 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Isaiah Hill officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Dover Cemetery.
