CHARLES L. GESNER JR.
GUILFORD - Charles L. Gesner Jr., 65, husband of Donna (Coffin) Gesner, died March 6, 2006, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1940, in Belfast, the son of Charles L. and Charlotte (Craig) Gesner. He was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1959 and attended Farmington State Teachers College. A U.S. Army veteran, Chuck served in Germany from 1963-1966, as a corporal with the military police. Chuck retired from the Maine State Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole in 1989, after more than 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he and his wife spent 17 years sailing the eastern coast of the United States and in doing so, earned their 50 Ton Master Coast Guard Licenses. Charles was also a founding father of the
Blue Knights Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna of Guilford and her family, including her parents, Eugene and Pearl Coffin of Guilford. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Charelle Metcalf and Cindra Gesner; and a brother, William Gesner. There will be no services. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans' Cemetery in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Pancreatic Cancer Research, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
