CHARLES R. BATCHELDER Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in France. He came to Dexter in 1940 looking for work at Fay & Scott, where he stayed for 27 years. He retired from General Electric, Bangor. He was a self-taught electrician. Charles was a life member of the Masons and enjoyed that immensely. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor C. Batchelder; sons, Charles E. Batchelder and his wife, Eloise, of Gardiner and Richard L. Batchelder and his wife, Norma, of Dexter; five grandchildren, Ellen Batchelder of Paris, France and Michael Batchelder of Portland, Jessica Belanger of Lancaster, N.H., Jason Batchelder of Dover-Foxcroft and Nancy Batchelder of Dexter; three great-grandchildren, Viviana Belanger of Lancaster, N.H., Jason Eubanks and Justice Batchelder of Dover-Foxcroft; three sisters, Phyllis Clapper of North Carolina, Barbara Sanborn of Connecticut and Judith Ebert of Georgia; and three brothers, David Batchelder of New Hampshire, Norman Batchelder of Florida and Malcolm Batchelder of Connecticut. He was predeceased by a sister, Natalie Pattison; and three brothers, Donald, Edward and Richard Batchelder. A private burial service will be held in the spring at Dexter Cemetery.
