OBITUARIES

 

DONALD BRACKETT HALL
DOVER-FOXCROFT- Donald Brackett Hall, 93, passed away from pneumonia and heart failure on March 12, 2008, at a local nursing home. He was born August 7, 1914, in Clinton, to Emery D. and Leola V. (Brackett) Hall.

Don graduated from Fairfield High School and worked as a truck driver, then as a floor supervisor at the shoe shop in Skowhegan. He and his wife, Elizabeth and their two daughters, Patricia and Gloria moved to Dover-Foxcroft, where their son, Stephen was born.

Don worked for P. E. Ward Company selling furniture for the next fifty years, retiring at age 75. Don was a Navy veteran, spending World War II in England and France.

Don loved to hunt and fish and always had a vegetable garden. He loved the game of cribbage, and played the game with anyone who knew the game, or he would teach you. Don was on a bowling team until age 91, and was still playing some golf at age 93. Don was a people person. He loved making new friends and seeing old ones. He never spoke ill of anyone.

Don was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth and his two daughters, Patricia and Gloria. He is survived by his son, Stephen E. and his wife, Jeanette of Guilford; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

At his request, graveside committal services will be held at South Side Cemetery in Skowhegan in the spring. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
