DONALD E. MITCHELL
TROY—Donald E. Mitchell, 71, died unexpectedly September 24, 2003 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born July 29, 1932 at Troy a son of Manley Donald and Jessie (Thompson) Mitchell. He graduated from Unity High School, Class of 1950, served in the U. S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1953. In January of 1980, he married his beloved wife, Linda. Donald worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for Sargent’s Construction. He also owned and operated Mitchell’s Garage and D & L Mitchell Trucking, both of Troy. He drove a school bus for SAD #3 for many years. Donald was a member of the Troy Snowmobile Club, a lifelong member and past Commander of the American Legion Post # 50 of Unity, past Chief of the Troy Fire Department, past Master of Star in the West Lodge #85 AF & AM of Unity, was currently the President of the Anah Shrine Medic Corps, a member of the Anah Shrine in Bangor and the Waldo County Shrine Club in Belfast. Donald was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. “Papa” loved working on and restoring old cars and tractors. He always looked forward to summer when he could go on camping trips with his wife, Linda and friends.

He is survived by his wife of Troy; a son Rick and wife Rodena Clowry of Jackman; 3 daughters, Lois and husband Dana Brown of Pittsfield, Liana and husband Dale Walker of Troy, and Leora Mitchell of Ellsworth; 2 brothers, Darrold and wife Barbara Mitchell of Ellsworth, and Harrold and wife Virginia Mitchell of Norman, OK; 13 grandchildren, Selbi and husband Aaron Blake, Robert Clowry, Daniel Clowry, Kevin and wife Kristen Brown, Kelli Brown, Karen Brown, Emily and husband Justin Anderson, Eric and wife Abby Walker, Nicholas Moore, Logan Reynolds, TJ Reynolds, Ian Crossman, and Justin Clowry; 2 great grandchildren, Kaylee Anderson and Hannah Moore; daughter-in-law, Valerie Clowry of Cambridge; several aunts, 1 uncle, a niece and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sons, Donald Mitchell, Jr. and Brent Clowry.

Friends may callfrom 1 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, September 29th, with Pastor Scott Millett officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Rogers Cemetery, Troy.
