Donald L. Mathews He served as a Sgt. in the US Air Force for 4 years, 2 years of which were in Vietnam. Donald later enlisted in the US Army National Guard. Donald was a master mechanical contractor and owned and operated his business, 3M Engineering in Warwick, RI. After moving to Shirley, Maine, he worked for John Cobb in Greenville as a mechanical contractor. He enjoyed hunting, and being outdoors, spending time with his 11 grandchildren, and just being with his family. He always had a smile and enjoyed joking with everyone, until he became disabled and very ill. He is in a better place and watching over his family. Rest in Peace. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Bates) Mathews of Monson; 3 sons, Lou Mathews and his wife, Lisa of Coventry, RI, Greg Mathews of Dover-Foxcroft, and Jeff Mathews and his wife, Kerri of W. Greenwich, RI; 2 daughters, Staci Bartlett of Monson, and Tanya Bartlett of IN; a sister, Janice Mathews of W. Warwick, RI; and 11 grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors, will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
