DORENE "DONNIE" MAE GRAF
ABBOT, Dorene "Donnie" Mae Graf, 56, died on October 10, 2001 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 12, 1945, in Guilford, the daughter of Harry E. and Eleanor L. Foley. Donnie graduated from PCHS, class of 1963. After marrying and living for seven years in Hartford, Connecticut, she returned to Maine where she was employed for 29 years as the office manager by the Town of Guilford. Whether working in her garden or catching frogs with her grandchildren, "Grammie" found her greatest joys in life through quiet times with family at her home on Whetstone Pond. She was a complex person who enjoyed the simplest of things. She was a private person who opened her heart to few but accepted everyone. She was a wise woman and those who knew her always listened keenly to her advice. She lived her life, and died, in a state of grace. Donnie will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John William Graf of Abbot; a son, Michael John Graf and his wife, Pamela of Dover, Delaware; a daughter, Stephanie Ann Roberts and her husband, Jim of Gorham; six grandchildren, Christopher Michael Graf, Nicholas William Graf, Jessica Elizabeth Graf, Dylan James Roberts, Benjamin John Roberts, and Jacob Henry Roberts; two sisters, Marilyn Joanne Farrar of Dexter and Betty Ann Skleros of New York City. She was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Mastine of Jay.

Friends and relatives are invited to a gathering in her honor at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak Street in Guilford on Saturday October 13, 2001 from 6-8 PM. No funeral services will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Donnie's name to the Mayo Regional Hospital Oncology Clinic, 75 W. Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426, or to Community Health and Counseling Services, 14 Summer St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
