DOROTHY M. SPEED
ATKINSON- Dorothy M. Speed, 87, died March 31, 2008, at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born May 3, 1920, in Atkinson, daughter of Ora and Hulda (Anderson) Pratt. She was a member of the Atkinson United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. For many years she worked as a rural letter carrier. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, family gatherings, and loved caring for her flowers.

She is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Linda and Walter Lougee of Milo, Carol and Joel Patterson of Springvale, and Susan and Peter Cannon of Atkinson; a son-in-law, Thomas Harvey Sr. of Atkinson; 9 grandchildren, Nancy Barnes, Bruce Lougee, Julie Whitten, Patricia Patterson, Amy Schmitt, Mark Andrews, Holly Andrews, Margaret Crider, Thomas Harvey Jr.; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Pratt of Guilford; a sister, Eleanor Fuller of MA; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Phillip Speed and a daughter, Judy Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Atkinson United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Margaret “Dodie” Sheffield officiating. Spring burial will be in the Atkinson Corner Cemetery.
